Who benefits most
from a DEXA scan

A DEXA scan is useful for anyone serious about preventive health and performance. But for some people the picture a scan reveals is especially valuable

Muscle: ↓ 5% / year

Visceral fat: ↑ 1% / year

HIGH RISK

HIGH RISK

Midlife adults (35 to 60)

From your late thirties, body composition shifts quietly. Muscle slips away, fat redistributes inward, and the scale hides both. A DEXA scan makes those changes visible while they're still easy to reverse

Muscle mass declines steadily from midlife, and muscle strength is lost two to five times faster than muscle mass¹

You can lose muscle and gain fat with no change in scale weight. Adults with a normal BMI but high body fat have around four times the rate of metabolic syndrome (16.6% vs 4.8%)²

Normal BMI with central obesity is associated with higher total mortality than the same BMI without it³
